 “ The Land of the Living” is a nonprofit organization, which deals with psycho - social rehabilitation and re-socialization of young drug addicts. The entire project is based and coordinated with actions taken by Republic of Serbia in prevention, rehabilitation and social reintegration.

His Holiness Irinej, Serbian Patriarch and Prof. Dr. Zoran Stanković, minister of Health, signed today at the Serbian Patriarchate in Belgrade the Memorandum on cooperation of the Serbian Orthodox Church and Ministry of Health of the Republic of Serbia. The act of signing of the Memorandum was attended by His Grace Bishop Porfirije of Jegar, head of the monastery of Kovilj, under whose spiritual and material patronage, with the blessing of His Grace Bishop Irinej of Bačka, the drug rehabilitation center - the community Land of the Living works.

This solemn act was attended also by His Grace Bishop Atanasije of Hvosno and protopresbyter Branko Ćurčin, spiritual of the Centre of the Land of the Living.

The Memorandum of Cooperation determine the duties of the Serbian Orthodox Church and the Serbian Ministry of Health regarding the as good as possible implementation of the project Land of the Living the therapeutic community which aim is the free rehabilitation of psycho-physical state of addicts and their education in order to promote and develop a healthy lifestyle in order to preserve and improve youth health and also training the healthy life of young people through peer's education affect individuals and groups in order to protect and prevent of psychoactive substances.
